Graduate

Born of desperation

and months of desolation that stretched so long that I became them

Don’t think

Turn off the future

One assignment at a time or it will be so much that I’ll succumb

I am not the same person I was then.

Out of necessity I grew a shell.

I became an eons-old tortoise with incrementally insignificant movements so small that they don’t matter

until they do.

Until I have become the thing I wanted

Turned tough

and bitter

and irreparably destroyed-

and-

like a phoenix-

reborn.
